Sign of the Credit Crunch Times?

The Prime Minister, Gordon Brown went around the country looking for a call girl. He found three at a bar. A redhead, a blonde, and a brunette. To the redhead he said, “I am Gordon brown. How much would it cost to go to bed with you?”
The redhead replied, “£200.”
He asked the same question of the blonde and she replied, “£100.”
When he asked the brunette the same question, she smartly replied, “If you can raise my skirt as high as the taxes, get my panties down as low as the wages, get that thing of yours as hard as the times are, and screw me like you do the public, it won’t cost you a penny.”

Oedipus Complex

Following on from some studying I did a few years ago on the reasoning behind some peoples desire to involve themselves in 'Ageplay', either via online or real life relationships. This article interested me. In time I will write about that study, but for now, enjoy the reading.

The Oedipus complex, in psychoanalytic theory, is a group of largely unconscious (dynamically repressed) ideas and feelings which centre around the desire to possess the parent of the opposite sex and eliminate the parent of the same sex. According to classical theory, the complex appears during the so-called 'oedipal phase' of libidinal and ego development; i.e. between the ages of three and five, though oedipal manifestations may be detected earlier. The complex is named after the Greek mythical character Oedipus, who (albeit unknowingly) kills his father and marries his mother. According to Freud, the Oedipus complex is a universal phenomenon, built in phylogenetically, and is responsible for much unconscious guilt. Speaking of the mythical Oedipus, Freud put it in these terms:

His destiny moves us only because it might have been ours –- because the oracle laid the same curse upon us before our birth as upon him. It is the fate of all of us, perhaps, to direct our first sexual impulse towards our mother and our first hatred and our first murderous wish against our father. Our dreams convince us that this is so.”

Classical theory considers the successful resolution of the Oedipus complex to be developmentally desirable, the key to the development of gender roles and identity. Freud posited that boys and girls resolved the conflicts differently as a result of the male's castration anxiety (caused by oedipal rivalry with the father) and the female's penis envy. He also held that the unsuccessful resolution of the Oedipus complex could result in neurosis, paedophilia, and homosexuality.
Classical theory holds that 'resolution' of the Oedipus complex takes place through identification with the parent of the same sex and (partial) temporary renunciation of the parent of the opposite sex; the opposite-sex parent is then 're-discovered' as the growing individual's adult sexual object.
In classical theory, individuals who are fixated at the oedipal level are 'mother-fixated' or 'father-fixated', and reveal this by choosing sexual partners who are discernible surrogates for their parent(s).

Well welcome!

I would like to try and make this blog as non-political as possible. Not sure if I'll manage all the time though.

A little about myself;

Female, 39, living in the UK. Almost Divorced. I have two children aged 20 and almost 17, both Boys.

Currently not working due to awaiting surgery.. hopefully I will be able to get back into employment around the end of May 2009. I am a qualified chef but haven't been active in this role for over 7 years and have no desire to go back into the 'rat race' of the catering trade. I have had my ECDL for the past 5 years and when able to work, will be going back to Office/Admin work.

I enjoy travelling and seeing other cultures in this huge world we live in.

I get itchy feet a lot and find it very difficult to remain in one place for any length of time.

I am currently living in my static caravan on the Thames Estuary in Kent. This is probably my most peaceful place I would choose to be, even when the temperatures drop to 4 degrees celcius, I still enjoy the tranquility of this place.

Well, I hope you enjoyed the introduction.. and I will bid you farewell for now, and probably start to bore you very soon.
